Abstract
Penzigomyces indicus, a new species of fungi (Pezizomycotina: Ascomycota) collected from India on dead bamboo stems, is described herein. This species is distinguished from its allied counterparts within the genus by the prominent nodose, percurrent proliferations of the conidiophores with distinct dark bands, smooth medium-sized conidia lacking a rostrum, and the number of septations in the conidia. A comparative morphological study of all species of the genus Penzigomyces is also presented, along with details on their distribution, hosts, and nomenclatural types.
